Windows Batch File Parameters without Quotations

I have a batch file which takes one parameter which can include spaces.

%WINDIR%\System32\InetSrv\AppCmd.exe SET app /app.name:"%1/PCMServices/Architecture/CoachServices/REST" /applicationPool:"ASP.NET v4.0"

When I call this batch file with “Default Web Site” as %1 it gets substituted as

%WINDIR%\System32\InetSrv\AppCmd.exe SET app /app.name:"”Default Web Site”/PCMServices/Architecture/CoachServices/REST" /applicationPool:"ASP.NET v4.0"

The AppCmd.exe cannot process this because of multiple quotation marks.

Solution:

use %~1 instead of %1

%WINDIR%\System32\InetSrv\AppCmd.exe SET app /app.name:"%~1/PCMServices/Architecture/CoachServices/REST" /applicationPool:"ASP.NET v4.0"

When I call this batch file with “Default Web Site” as %1 it gets substituted as

%WINDIR%\System32\InetSrv\AppCmd.exe SET app /app.name:"Default Web Site/PCMServices/Architecture/CoachServices/REST" /applicationPool:"ASP.NET v4.0"
